In 2001, it is expected that the Fruit Research Station (FPO) becomes part of Applied Plant Research and thus will join into Wageningen UR.
FPO is engaged in all aspects of fruit production, covering all fruit crops grown in the country. The activities comprise:
- Applied research and development work aimed at finding integrated practical solutions to the problems of fruit growing, harvest, storage, fruit quality and pest and disease control;
- Providing information to growers, extension services, education centres, agri-business and agro policy makers. Emphasis is on the transfer of knowledge through publications and lectures, both nationally and internationally and through field days.
