Organisational Structure
The institute coordinates the research activity of 10 Research Stations for Viticulture and Enology (at Blaj, Bujoru, Dragasani, Greaca, Iasi, Minis, Murfatalar, Odobesti, Pietroasa, and Stefanesti) These stations are located in the main vineyards and vine growing centers of the country.
Research Activities are:
-Improvement of large-berried and seedless table grape cultivars characterized by early ripening.
-Creation of table grape and grape cultivars with special features of high quality and resistance to diseases.
-Creation of table grape cultivars with special features of high quality and increased resistance to low temperatures.
-Utilization of alternating sources of fertilization in the vine-growing plantations.
-Up-to-date methods of integrated control of vine diseases and pests.
-Differentiated technologies of ecological viticulture.
-Modelling of vine production taking as a background the physiological and climatic indicators.
-Study of viticultural and enological microflora, as well as of microorganisms (yeasts and bacteria) upon wine quality.
-Conducting of the fermentation processes in the wine-making industry.
-Improvement of the technologies used for producing wines of different categories and types, for a more efficient utilization of the raw material with the aim of increasing the quality of the final products, and consequently the efficiency of the wine-making industry (white, red, rose and special wines).
-Updating of the methods of analysis and control for wines and alcoholic beverages according to the legal orders and methods used at the international level.
-Obtention of spirituous beverages of high quality: grape and wine distillates, as well as fruit distillates.
