The department is organised in numerous chairs conducting teaching and research in scientific disciplines dealing with plant food technology, meat science, enology, microbiology, biotechnology, sensory evaluation, chemistry, biochemistry and food analytical chemistry.
Teaching is performed on undergraduate and postgraduate levels (master's degree, doctor's degree).
Basic and applied research on biotechnology, molecular biology, food science and technology, enology and gene banking.
