General info

Horticultural enterprises in Wyoming are small in number because of the low population density and because most of the state is grassland and forest. Vegetables and small fruits for local market are grown on a few farms throughout the state. Greenhouse, nursery and sod production operations are scattered and small in number. Twenty eight thousand acres of dry beans are grown annually on irrigated land. Yield is about 500,000 cwt. valued at $9 million. Potatoes are grown on 3,000 irrigated acres with a yield of about 850,000 cwt.
